About the Project

In April of 2023, as part of National Poetry Month, St. Albert’s current Poet Laureate, Lauren Seal, set out to create an original, community-led poem in a project entitled the St. Albert Community Poem. Lauren asked the residents of our City, “How do you create joy in your community?” with the intention of taking the responses and turning them into a piece in which St. Albertans could share authorship.

This film is a collaboration between the City of St. Albert, Lauren Seal, and Holly Mazur Productions to present the poem to St. Albert residents. The goal was to capture the spirit of joy and everyday beauty in the community, as well as collect images representative of the community submissions.
